The Timber Trade Portal is a cooperation between ATIBT, Form International and its sponsoring partners.
Together we work to improve the legality of timber trade worldwide and to facilitate access to reliable information.
The Association Technique Internationale des Bois Tropicaux (ATIBT) has its headquarter in France, in Nogent-sur-Marne and is a non-profit association, governed by the French law of 1901, and created in 1951 with the support of the FAO and OECD. It contributes to the sustainable and responsible development of the tropical forest-timber sector, from the forest to the markets in order to guarantee wood supply that meets current needs, without compromising the capacity for future generations.
Its mission is to facilitate effective and innovative cooperation between all stakeholders concerned to ensure the implementation of sustainable and responsible management of tropical forests by meeting their needs in terms of information, training, and technical and scientific support.
Through its triple role of:
ATIBT promotes and supports inter-professional exchanges on the development of the sector and the issues that are faced. Related websites supported by ATIBT are Fair&Precious, a collective brand for promoting sustainable and certified timber from operators in the Congo basin, and My Tropical Timber, a tool to bring visibility to the actors & outlets of over 100 species of tropical timbers and which provides information on tropical timber species to consumers.
