The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is the cabinet-level, government ministry in the Republic of Indonesia responsible for managing and conserving Indonesia’s forests, and making sure sustainable ecosystems are in place and protected. The Ministry also has jurisdiction over national parks and management of national reserves.

CIFOR is Centre for International Forestry Research, a global research organisation based in Bogor, Indonesia. It has staff involved in all aspects of forestry, including social, ecological and production issues. Its publications are of the highest quality and provide theoretical as well as practical background. Whereas the organisation is not commercial, it does work with commercial groups, often from a research basis.

GFTN-Indonesia is the Indonesian chapter of WWF's Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN). The GFTN is WWF's initiative to eliminate illegal logging and improve the management of valuable and threatened forests.

The TFF is an NGO widely supported by the tropical forest industry, environmental organizations, and educational institutions. Its objective is to support broad-based adoption of sustainable forest management practices in the tropical world through engaging the operational forest sector, be it industry or community organizations. The TFF carries out training, demonstration, and information dissemination activities in a broad range of forest management activities in response to requests and based on need. TFF's services are provided free to willing participants and cover topics including mapping, planning, reduced logging implementation, development of management systems, and forest certification. It is represented in the Asia/Pacific Region with an office in Jakarta supported by the Association of Indonesian Concessionaires Holders.
